Classic Rock pioneers Wishbone Ash plus support

Twin-guitar classic rock pioneers Wishbone Ash return to 53 Degrees in Preston as a part of their 2018 European XLIX shows. Take this opportunity to discover for yourself why the music of Wishbone Ash still endures after 45 years and why they still retain their reputation as one of the busiest bands in rock.

Witness their outstanding musicianship and distinctive, classic twin-guitar sound that influenced groups from Thin Lizzy to Iron Maiden and many more. Enjoy the perfect mix of classic tracks such as The King Will Come, Throw Down The Sword & Blowin’ Free and material from their illustrious, back-catalogue of albums – as well as the latest, highly-acclaimed Blue Horizon.

Wishbone Ash are noted for their extensive use of the harmony twin lead guitar format which had been attracting electric blues bands since Jeff Beck and Jimmy Page had played together in the Yardbirds in 1966. Their contribution helped Andy Powell to be voted “One of the Ten Most Important Guitarists in Rock History” (Traffic magazine 1989), and to appear in the “Top 20 Guitarists of All Time” (Rolling Stone). Melody Maker (1972) described Powell as a part of “the most interesting two guitar team since the days when Beck and Page graced The Yardbirds”.
