UCLan Confucius Institute's ‘China Book Exhibition’ will take place on Wednesday 28 April 2010. The event will include a talk by Abby Baker from the International Dunhuang Project at the British Library, a Chinese calligraphy workshop, an introduction to Chinese philosophers, games and quizzes, the launch of the Confucius Institute’s new interactive Chinese Culture Experience kiosks, and an opportunity to browse the book exhibition containing the best of English and Chinese language books and learning materials covering many aspects of Chinese language and culture.
Members of the public are welcome to come and browse the book exhibition throughout the day.

10:00-10:30 China ‘Who Wants To Be A Millionaire’ quiz
Test your knowledge of China in this fun ‘who wants to be a millionaire’ style quiz. Prizes for the winners.
10:30-11:10 Chinese art & calligraphy workshop
A hands-on opportunity to learn the basics of Chinese art and calligraphy using brush and ink.
11:10-11:20 Break
11:20-12:00 Introduction to Chinese Philosophers
Professor Hu will give an introduction to the key Chinese philosophers.
12:00-12:45 Lunch – Chinese buffet
Afternoon
12:45-13:00 Launch of UCLan Confucius Institute ‘Chinese Culture Experience’ kiosks
A chance to use the Confucius Institute’s new touchscreen Chinese Culture Experience kiosks. Interactive computer programs introduce Chinese characters, opera, kung fu, calligraphy, Chinese science & technology, Chinese ancient thinkers, etc.
13:00-14:00 China Book Exhibition
An opportunity to visit the exhibition stalls and browse the best English and Chinese language books about China and Chinese language learning.
14:00-15:00 Silk Road Culture: A British Library lecture
Abby Baker from the International Dunhuang Project at the British Library will give a talk about Buddhism and the Silk Road for secondary school students.
