Tonight we’re going to party like it’s 1751!
No, that doesn’t mean we’re all gonna get historical, start trying to discover Uranus and worrying about how we’ll cope with the new calendar, but in 1751, for the last time ever, March 25th was New Years Day, a time of great celebration, and also the day rent was due and servants were hired, but let’s not worry about that.
I love Wikipedia I do.
Wiki is also responsible for throwing up a poem, about Jagermeister, written in the 1800s, I don’t know about you, but I think that’s super cool.
Das ist des Jägers Ehrenschild,
daß er beschützt und hegt sein Wild,
weidmännisch jagt, wie sich’s gehört,
den Schöpfer im Geschöpfe ehrt.
I don’t think it’s really about Jager, if I’m honest, my German isn’t so good, I wrote Ich bin ein bahnhof in my exam , now I’ve know a few bahnhofs in my time, but I don’t think I should have declared myself one of them. They do put the poem on the bottle though.
Thursday 25th March, 18th Century Jager fuelled New Year’s party at Promo. Jager just £1.50 all night, JagerBull, for the rush, £2.50, and JagerMonsterCocktail, for the brave, £2.75.
It’s gonna be a grand olde evenin’ of celebration and harvests and looms and.. I’ll be honest, I haven’t got the faintest idea what happened in the 18th Century, I don’t think we were discovering new lands, but we weren’t quite building railways, was Sweeney Todd about? Who knows, maybe the whole country was drunk of Jager for a whole century and nobody can remember, maybe they were all dedicating their time to inventing Jager, maybe they were just having a big Who’s Got The Bluest Pants competition. History students... help me out!
Gaz & Fran downstairs doing the big Party, Fil upstairs with the indie & rock, Jager everywhere, pints mostly under £2, shots from £1, Jelly Angels with Jelly Shots giving it the wobble.
Tickets on sale now for SU Reception, Essentials, Source, and those glorious travelling salesburies, every man & woman a joy to behold and a treat to embrace.
