Peter Hook Brings Early New Order Classics To 53 Degrees

Share |

Following last year's sell out 'Unknown Pleasures' show, Peter Hook & The Light return to 53 Degrees, performing the first two era-defining New Order albums, 'Movement' (1981) and 'Power, Corruption & Lies' (1983), in their entirety. Throw in a few choice single cuts from the era such as 'Ceremony', 'Everything's Gone Green' and the ground-breaking 'Blue Monday', and you're looking at a not-to-be-missed performance.

Hooky's defining bass and surprisingly assured vocals find a whole new meaning in his back catalogue. Peter Hook & The Light grab these songs by the scruff of the neck and give them a punkiness; Hooky's bass drives the songs with an added raw power. A romp through a back catalogue should never be this good but Hooky gives the songs a very different narrative and puts a whole new heart and soul into them.
