Team Waterpolo return home
Local band reveal in interview that 53 Degrees is their top place to play
Last year the 53 Degrees team got very excited about Preston band Team Waterpolo. A year ago (November 7th 2007) the Preston boys played their first ever gig at 53 Degrees D.I.Y Indie club night to a room packed with A&R men.
D.I.Y resident DJ Karl Yates was the 1st DJ to play their single prior to their gig and everyone waited in anticipation for this ‘local’ band of the moment to grace the stage. Since then they have played The Roundhouse with Supergrass, supported CSS and The Wombats at the legendary Empress Ballroom Blackpool, played 2 gigs at Glastonbury festival and signed to Sony’s Epic label.
53 Degrees has been championing the band since the start and were pleased they decided to end their first full UK tour at the venue.
Singer Freddie said: "There's nowhere else we could have finished the tour. Out of every venue that we can play, that's our favourite. Yeah, we absolutely love that place, it has a special place in our hearts."
Cheers boys ;) – there’s no where else we would have liked you to end the tour either! And what an end of tour gig it was! To check out pictures go to….
Keep an eye out for their eagerly anticipated debut album next year. Follow-up singles to their awesome ‘Letting Go’ are likely to be released soon so watch this space for details.
